Highlight of the international stamp exhibition, EuroPhilEx Birmingham 2025, being held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham from Wednesday, 7 May, until Sunday, 11 May 2025, will be the Court of Honour. This will feature material from some of the world’s finest collections.
Star attraction will be the unique British Guiana 1c black on magenta of 1856, which is kindly being shown courtesy of Stanley Gibbons Ltd.
Other exhibits in the Court of Honour will include the following. An exhibit of early writing, starting from 5,000 year-old cuneiform tablets, brought together from the collections of James Grimwood-Taylor, Bill Hedley, Jon Aitchison and others. Bill Hedley will also be showing ‘The Merchants of Venice, Trade and Administration in the Golden Age of La Serenissima’ covering the 14th to 17th centuries’. Howard Hughes will be showing ‘The Maltese Cross’ markings of Great Britain, while Joseph Hackmey will display classic France and classic Romania. ‘Stampless Maritime Overweight Mail in pre-GPU times (1838-1876)’ will be shown by Paul Wijnants, while Hany Salam will display early Egyptian Maritime Postal History. The exhibit from Chris Harman will feature ‘Classic British Empire – Perkins, Bacon issues: the Chalon head design’, while Geoffrey Lewis will display his exceptional ‘Mail routes in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, plus the routes between the oceans’.

Also on display throughout the exhibition will be the original five parchment rolls of the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists.
There will also be 2,000 frames of exhibits, from more than 30 countries. The classes being shown are: FEPA Grand Prix Class, Traditional Philately, Postal History, Aerophilately, Revenues, Postal Stationery, Thematic Philately, Open Philately, Picture Postcard, Maximaphily, Astrophilately, plus Philatelic Literature.
EuroPhilEx Birmingham 2025 is being organised by the Association of British Philatelic Societies in conjunction with Stamp World Exhibitions Ltd, and has FEPA patronage and FIP (International Federation of Philately) recognition. It will be open from 10am to 6pm on Wednesday, 7 May, from 10am to 5pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 8 to 10 May, and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, 11 May. Admission is free except on the opening day when admission will cost £10 (or £20 for early admission at 9am).
