On 24th March, James Bendon FRPSL, renowned British philatelist, dealer and publisher, distributed the following message to his clients and friends:
I have retired!
After more than 50 years as a full-time stamp dealer and philatelic publisher and having reached the age of 85 I have decided that it is time to retire. I will be spending my time putting my own collections in order, disposing of my stock and parts of my library, and writing some articles or even another book. Over the years I have welcomed correspondence about specimen stamps and I intend to continue to advise and help collectors.
James Bendon traded as a stamp dealer, first in the United Kingdom and later in Cyprus. His first book, UPU Specimen Stamps, was self-published in Limassol, in 1988.
