Some of you who follow the press briefings over in the UK will be aware that there has been a recent review of Royal Patronages. Her late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II had about 460 Patronages of charities which she followed. To these were added several hundred from Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, which together brought the total to approximately 1,000. All these have been the subject to a recent review to see which are to be continued; indeed the numbers have been cut down considerably.
I have received a personal letter from Sir Clive Alderton, The Principal Private Secretary to the King and Queen. He writes “I am pleased to confirm that His Majesty would be delighted to accept the Patronage of the Royal Philatelic Society. It is my great pleasure to share this news with you to mark the first anniversary of their Majesties’ Coronation”. It is indeed a great honour for our Society. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all those who have contributed to this including our staff and our many volunteers both in the UK and abroad.
